Two Endurance 55's at a potato farm in Yorkshire

These two Endurance E3120s are providing clean energy for a potato farm in Yorkshire, England. Gary was there to assist with the install and commissioning with Earthmill LTD. The UK has a great incentive program through feed in tarriffs and they are installing turbines at a fantastic pace. We really need to push for incentives like that here in the US. Farmers in the UK love Endurance turbines for the clean energy, stable electricity and their reduced energy costs combined with steady income from the tarrif. They also love the fact that they don’t have to give up any ground and can continue to farm those fields just as they have been.

It was a very calm July, shown consistently across the fleet.

April 2011 winds on Martha’s Vineyard were clearly more powerful than last April. All turbines ran perfectly with 100% up time.  No one set any records though Morning Glory came close with 12,070 kW hours. Sibleys broke 10,000 cumulatively and had an outstanding month. Looking at the production chart, I would guess that we had a lot of North East wind this April. We can expect a downward trend in the coming summer months but our solar compatriots will be increasing generation so we can take solace in that knowledge while we relax on the beach!

The Harvard Medical School has just released a study regarding the true costs of coal. Most poignantly it states that the best estimate for the additional expenses not attributed to electricity generation from coal, costs Americans 18 cents more per kW hour.

We installed this Endurance E3120 in early September and commissioned her on September 20th. The turbine sat idle all winter while the VA and NSTAR worked out their differences with regard to the interconnection agreement. We were allowed to turn her on again in March and then this past Friday on Earth Day the secretary of the VA finally officially flipped the switch at a ribbon cutting ceremony held at the site.

Its in the news!

The Endurance wind turbine at Morning Glory Farm produces an average of 9,000 kW hours of clean energy each month, reducing the farms energy costs and providing clean sustainable energy for the family run farm stand.

Lots of volunteer help for the foundation was priceless!

Tired of hearing how wind power only works if it’s subsidized?

Me too!
